At Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) St. Louis, we are fortunate to have a plethora of community partners that host third-party fundraisers to benefit guest families seeking medical treatment in St. Louis. These supporters, also known as Caring Partners, go above and beyond to give back to our mission and inform others to get involved. The partnerships we have built throughout our history play an essential role in the success of the organization each year.
For the last ten years, the LoneRiders organization has played a significant part in the success of the Caring Partners Program. They have organized an annual motorcycle ride in the regional area, with participants stopping into local pubs to “Chase it for Charity.”
Proceeds from this out-of-the-box fundraiser benefit SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital Foundation and RMHC St. Louis. Leading the pack is Todd and Kathy TeBrink, parents who know the impact of both organizations too well.
“I got involved with RMHC after our son had open-heart surgery at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. The Ronald McDonald Family Room at the hospital provided a much-needed space during the long days at the hospital to relax and take a shower,” says Kathy. “Working with the organization now, knowing the type of care they provide for families is the reason I got involved. Our family and friends have joined us over the last ten years to fundraise, and that is a big blessing to me!”
Todd and Kathy reach out to local pubs for their annual event to ensure ample participation and always know how to have a good time while doing it! This year, the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic posed some extra challenges for the usual bike ride. Still, The Loneriders were determined to continue their event in some capacity to support the two organizations, and thus Grub for Good was born.
Grub for Good is a new campaign that emphasizes the partnership and support of local bars, restaurants, and breweries.
“This summer we are uniting to eat local and give local. We challenge our community to come together to donate $25 and eat at five local restaurants. As a thank you for donating, our restaurant partners will give participants 10% off of food purchases until the end of August,” says Kathy.
The participating businesses have taken an incredibly hard hit during the last few months, and the LoneRiders want to be sure to support those who have supported them for so many years, as well as give their annual donation. Now that is a win-win-win!
The TeBrink’s, along with their friends and family, have been incredible and exemplary community partners. It’s families like these that we are so grateful for their continued support by sharing our mission and fundraising in unique ways during these unprecedented times.
