David Tornetto is one of three national finalists for the Community Service Award

David Tornetto, Retirement Planning Specialist at Nextstep Financial Group, LLC in Clayton, has been announced as one of three national finalists for the Community Service Award as part of the 14th Annual Invest in Others Awards. Tornetto is being honored for his work with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis, which will receive a $10,000 donation from the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation. If Tornetto wins his category, the donation will increase to $40,000.

The Invest in Others Awards program recognizes the charitable work of financial advisors in communities across the country and around the world. Advisors are nominated for actively giving back to nonprofits to improve their communities and make a difference in the lives of others. Finalists are selected based on their leadership, dedication, contribution, inspiration, and impact on a nonprofit and the community it serves. There are five categories of awards: Catalyst, Community Service, Global Impact, Volunteer of the Year, and Lifetime Achievement.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of St. Louis provides temporary housing and other support services for families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at local hospitals. The organization develops partnerships with hospitals and other community organizations in order to increase access to quality, affordable health care and provide high-quality facilities, personnel and volunteers to best accommodate families’ needs. By serving families in these ways, RMHC St. Louis promotes family-centered care and allows families to focus on what matters most – the health of their child.

David Tornetto has volunteered with RMHC St. Louis for more than two decades. To David, his work with the organization has become more than a mere volunteer opportunity but an integrated part of who he is as a person. As a volunteer, he sees firsthand how childhood illness can cause emotional and financial strain on families. David was instrumental in creating the Caring Hearts Legacy Circle, RMHC St. Louis’s planned giving program. This program raised more than $4 million in revenue since 2005. Additionally, David participated in Long Range Planning for the organization and helped grow Planned Giving from $670,000 in 2012 to more than $2.2M million in 2019. David is an unmatched force in ensuring RMHC St. Louis has the organizational and financial stability for continued growth and expansion of services for years to come.

The Invest in Others Awards will be presented digitally this year over the course of five days, from Monday, September 21 to Friday, September 25. The video awards presentation for the Community Service Award will be unveiled Tuesday, September 22 at 4:45 pm ET on investinothers.org.
