Last November, Dawn and Mark Lynn welcomed their fifth child, Luke, into the world. Born nearly nine weeks early by emergency C-section, Luke weighed just 2 pounds, 14 ounces. Within minutes of being born, he was already being treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Mercy Children’s Hospital.

Although they live in Chesterfield, just a short drive from the hospital, the Lynns wanted to spend as much time with their newborn son as possible. Thankfully, the Ronald McDonald Family Room provided the essentials when running home was not feasible. It also served as a space where their older children – Joe, Matthew, Brooke and Jacob – could relax, play games and grab a snack while their parents took shifts visiting Luke.

“We were scared and uncertain when we would bring our baby home,” says Dawn, “but it felt so good to have a place of peace and relief.”

Six weeks passed before the day arrived when they could bring Luke home. Now, nearly a year later, this lovable little brother is happy, healthy and thriving.
